Through the self-balancing design, this new braking system by Campagnolo provides a completely symmetric and efficient brake application. In addition, the extremely stiff structure of the new Campagnolo Direct Mount brakes ensures superior stopping power, whilst the design elements take inspiration from the aerodynamics of the brake and are enhanced by the new sealed structure of the brake levers themselves. In addition to pure performance, a great deal of attention was given to ease of use and adjustment. The goal was to guarantee that the Campagnolo brake would be both easier to fit and intuitive and simple to adjust compared to any model available. That was made possible through the stiff structure positioned in the rear part of the brake, enabling rapid fitting that does not require external brake boosters, even on the weakest chainstays.

Working with the world’s best downhill riders has allowed us to develop top-level braking performance. When designing the all-new E-MTB we wanted to create a brake system for the specific needs of modern electric mountain bikes. With the added weight and speed these bikes will typically generate more heat than a typical mountain bike. Our E-MTB system combines the latest technology in braking with existing technology developed on the World Cup Downhill race circuit. The result is not a rebranded downhill brake rather a system that will meet the unique needs of today’s electric mountain bikes. Overall rotor thickness was increased from 1.8mm to 2.3mm which decreases the operating heat of the brake system by 8% and reduces rotor warping (lateral deformation) by 47%. This means with our new 2.3mm thick rotors rider won’t be glazing pads or overheat under the added stress of an electric mountain bike as they would with other brake systems. In 2016, TRP began working with reigning world cup champion Aaron Gwin. Out of the gate, he was impressed with the initial level of performance, but he did have a list of improvements needed to achieve world cup winning performance. Working closely with the TRP development team, improvements were made in nearly every part of the brake and tested on the world cup circuit throughout the season. The result is G-Spec, Aaron Gwin asked and we delivered every detail. We took most of the changes made to the DH-R EVO brakes and put them into the more affordable standard Quadiem. This brake features the same ergonomic lever made from cast aluminum and a forged/CNC’d caliper. Both of which have been given a matte black finish. It also features a new and stiffer 5.0 mm hose for easier internal routing and better transfer of hydraulic power. In the brake riders will also find hybrid pistons (Composite/Stainless) for improved heat dissipation, tool free indexed reach adjust and cooling fins on the caliper.
