Trek Road Bikes 2022

Trek Madone

Trek Madone Road Bike

Perfect for: Racing on flat to moderate terrain

As Trek’s top-spec aero road bike, the Madone is a favorite among dedicated cyclists with the need for speed. The Madone’s unique Kammtail Virtual Foil tube shapes and aggressive geometry are designed to reduce drag and allow the rider to cut through the air. The carbon laminate is ultralight and the designers at Trek have carefully integrated all brake and shift cables into the frame for sleeker performance.

Trek realizes winning races isn’t only about aerodynamics, so they’ve boosted the stiffness to ensure all your strength is translated into podium-worthy pace. The top tube IsoSpeed decoupler is adjustable to customize the compliance to rider preference and increase comfort out on the road. Not a stranger to winning, the Trek Madone is a common feature in professional races like the Tour de France and was the bike of choice for past UCI Road World Champions. For racers who ride flat to moderate terrain and want pro-level aerodynamics, the Madone is the ultimate road machine.

Trek Émonda

Trek Emonda Road Bike

Perfect for: Steep climbing and rides with large elevation gains

When the hills get steep and routes point skyward, the Trek Émonda is the super lightweight set-up to keep you climbing. A newer addition to Trek’s road bike range, this climbing model was introduced in 2014 and has incorporated other recent trends like wider tire clearance and disc brakes. The Émonda’s tube shapes are aerodynamic, but the real advantage is the lightweight frame, available in carbon fiber or aluminum.

The high-end versions of the Émonda are built with the all-new 800 Series OCLV Carbon and the impressive frame weighs under 700 grams. Trek’s ‘Invisible Weld Technology’ elevates the aesthetic and comfort levels of the aluminum versions. The bike comes specced with ultralight wheels and a tire clearance of up to 30mm.

The Émonda is best suited for cyclists that prefer climbing steep gradients over riding flat routes. Purpose-built for attacking the climbs, additional aero touches and room for wider tires expand the capabilities of the lightest bike in Trek’s line-up.

Trek Domane

Domane Trek Road Bike

Perfect for: Long training rides and one-day races

One of Trek’s most popular road models, the Domane is an endurance bike designed to be comfortable on long rides. The frameset is constructed to be ultra-stiff at the bottom bracket for efficient power transfer and super compliant near the seat and handlebars to increase comfort. That front and rear IsoSpeed tech can adjust to fit rider preference and terrain, including smooth pavement, gravel, and cobblestones.

The Domane is inspired by the top features across Trek’s road bike range, utilizing aerodynamic tube shapes, lightweight materials, and a huge tire clearance of up to 38mm. The result is a machine ready to deliver extra cushion to reduce fatigue on extended training rides or one-day races.

Available in both carbon or aluminum, the endurance geometry is fine-tuned to reduce vibrations, but it’s still a racing frame. Roadies that ride serious mileage or race on less-than-smooth surfaces can take advantage of the Domane’s road-smoothing superpowers and keep pedaling stronger for longer.

Trek Checkpoint

Trek Checkpoint Gravel Bike

Perfect for: Gravel riding and bikepacking

Trek’s bold response to the growing popularity of gravel and adventure biking, the Checkpoint flies over rough roads with impressive stability and confidence. The updated version outfits each of the three frame options with bigger-than-ever 40mm tires gravel tires, and there’s additional clearance to fit tires up to 45mm. The IsoSpeed decoupler near the seat tube absorbs bumps to tame the rowdy trails and reduce body strain.

There are additional mounts all across the frameset for carrying gear and water on long rides or bikepacking expeditions. The Shimano GRX groupset offers gravel-specific performance and better chain retention to keep shifting smooth over rough terrain. The Checkpoint is the ideal machine for adventurous riders who normally tackle gravel paths or are planning to start bikepacking on mixed terrain.

Trek Speed Concept

Trek Checkpoint Road Bike

Perfect for: Time trial races and triathlons

If you’re passionate about racing against the clock, the Trek Speed Concept is the professional time trail bike that’ll shave off those precious seconds. Like the aero Madone, Trek utilizes drag-reducing Kammtail Virtual Foil tube shapes to help this bike pierce through the air.

The brakes and cables, as well as a compartment for carrying race snacks, are integrated into the frame to streamline air flow over the bike. Trek estimate that the updated Speed Concept is six minutes faster on an Ironman triathlon course than previous models.

Trek specifically adapted their IsoSpeed tech to triathlon geometry by adding compliance farther up along the top tube. The Speed Concept is the right choice among athletes competing in bike time trails or triathlons.

Trek Women’s Road Bikes

Trek has adapted its road bike range to better serve the needs of every rider, regardless of gender, body type, or ability. In the past, the brand designed smaller frame sizes exclusively for female riders, but has changed tack by offering every road model in a variety of sizes suitable for any rider. Women generally fit smaller frames, but that single-minded approach doesn’t always work.

Nowadays, cyclists, regardless of gender or size, can choose between the numerous colorways, sizes, and componentry options available on the Madone, Émonda, Domane, and Checkpoint. The Speed Concept is even more adjustable than the other road models to fit as many triathletes as possible and achieve an efficient time trial position.

Modern women-specific bike design typically features adjustments to contact points such as narrower handlebars and a wider pedal stance. These changes can better suit female riders that have less broad shoulders and wider hips. Some bikes come with a female-specific seat that matches their sit bones for a more comfortable position in the saddle. Trek offers a variety of frame sizes, handlebar widths, and customizable parts so women can choose the bike that’s right for them.
