Jonathan spotted a honey badger this deer season, after striking out with all species of deer. From 200 yards, the badger looked like a plastic bag caught in the thicket to Jonathan. To Andy and myself, it looked invisible.
He hit it on the first shot, but was very nervous about approaching it. Badgers are known for their ferocity, and an injured one would be all the more grouchy. Jonathan approaches carefully, poking with a stick at first, and hilarity ensues.
His official story is that, since the shot went into the badger’s back and out its stomach cavity, there was a gurgling sound when he picked it up that sounded enough like a growl that he wasn’t willing to play it cool!
